Site Status - Happy Halloween
Tuesday, October 31,2023
TBC receives between 15 and 50 visitors to the TBC office complex each Halloween. This year's plan, if candy runs out, will be to give out some doubles from my 2023 Topps set ... and maybe even throw in some 1988 Score (No rookies unless necessary) Data updates will be slower during the 2023 offseason as I once again attempt to realize the vision I have had since the mid-2000s. A faster, cleaner, deeper content site. To do that, the site will need to (mostly) be rebuilt. The goal is less about changing the content but more about improving the experience. Pages should load much more quickly. Ads should be integrated more cleanly. Updates, bug fixes and enhancements (on my end) should be quicker. The back-end architecture of page-building will change. The risk is mostly in broken nightly build scripts but I expect this only to be an issue in the early days of the change. More on this over the next few months. All of this to say that we should have a new and improved version of TBC for Opening Day 2024! Have a safe and happy Halloween! If you get any kids dressed up as baseball players at your house, give them some extra candy and a few Bowman cards if you have them nearby!

5 Objects in the TBC Office
Saturday, October 7,2023
1. A Montreal Expos paper coaster. Created/drawn by my daughter several years ago for a birthday, it is one of my favorite birthday gifts ever received and it sits proudly in the workstation area, below the right-side monitor. It sits with 2 other similar coasters which will be explained in another post.

2. The iPad. Though the office has 3 monitors already, the iPad serves its own purpose by providing entertainment and softball streaming when the kid is playing and I can't be there. It handles Neftlix, Disney+, AppleTV, GameChanger, audio books and Spotify. It allows me the freedom to work on my 3 monitors without worrying about moving the entertainment from screen to screen.

3. Texas Roadhouse Peanuts. As a Canadian, I hadn't been to this restaurant until we discovered it last year. Our first experience in Albany was tremendous. The bread, the steak, the music, the ambiance. It was an experience. We have been trying to recreate that initial experience throughout our travels over the last year but have not been able to replicate so it seems like a hit or miss franchise. Albany was memorable though.

4. Classic American Whiskey from the Cooperstown Distillery. I purchased this in Cooperstown when I visited the Hall of Fame last year for the first time in my life. A memorable day where I purchased some baseball cards on main street along with this whiskey which comes in a bottle shaped like a baseball. Its the only whiskey that sits on my desk because of its pleasant wooden container. A picture of a baseball hitter staring at the pitcher is on the slide-up front panel.

5. A baseball in a cube container given to me by wife on one of my first birthdays while we were a couple. She wrote on the ball "You're my favorite pastime". It sits on a shelf overlooking the workstation.
