2020 College Player Bios - Division I
All player bios for 2020 Division I College Baseball Players have been updated. 301 schools. Very many players. Lots of work. Glad it's done for the year.

A "Bio" for college players includes their Birthplace, Date of birth (if available, else estimate year of birth), height, weight, bats, throws, high school, other colleges attended and proper name (also if available). Some player bios are complete while some others are less complete but I can assure that I tried for all of them.

This means that we have full College Bios for 19 Division I years. (2002-2020)

As with all data, its available in the data store for purchase. It can be part of the All Player Bios product or you can request a custom extract of College Bios only. Put me to work!

2020 Draft Added
The 2020 MLB Draft was added to the site. Shortest draft in history at 5 rounds. From Torkelson to Whitcomb.

All newly added High School players will have their own page. Who won the draft? Nobody knows. Experts will pontificate but they don't know. You don't know. I don't know.

A personal update, the world around me continues to open up. The province of Quebec, the epicenter of the virus in Canada, is among the most aggressive at re-opening and much of our world has re-opened. I am finding, surprisingly, that the government has exercised an excellent balance of politics and leadership. Many complained they were moving too fast and they backed off a little bit early on in May but since then, as the freedoms are given back to the people, the hospitalizations haven't gone up (in fact, they are decreasing steadily). I see some masks on the island of Montreal but off-island, not many. Team sports were activated last week and we have since had 3 softball practices with the 4 provincial teams splitting by region instead of by age group. No masks. Some measures in place. Practices seem normal. NO TOUCHING!. We got notice that games can start within your region starting Monday. 2 weeks after that, all systems go for playing wherever you want in the Province.

Upcoming 2020 MLB Draft
The MLB entry draft will take place on June 10-11 and will be only 5 rounds instead of the usual 40. Next year's draft will only be 20 rounds. The strategical impact will play out this week. Free agent signings will become a thing or maybe it won't. Nobody knows just yet.

TBC will add draft data within a few days of the draft. It will mark 56 years of draft data, all available in the TBC Draft Register. Signing bonuses will be added towards the signing deadline of August 1. The reduction of minor league teams and draft rounds will cause a change to the MLB landscape and MLB will adjust to a new normal.

Whatever happens, the draft is our first actual baseball event since Spring Training 1.0 ended in mid-March.
