Participated in the 2003 Futures Game during All-Star Weekend, playing for the World team. Member of the Chinese Taipei Baseball Team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Called up to the Yankees in the early 2005 season after it's star-studded rotation fell apart to injury, almost immediately established himself as a consistent pitcher and a stable part of the Yankee rotation. Most noted for his capability to keep the balls on the ground (due to his main pitch being the 2 seam fasterball) , Wang went 8-5 with a 4.02 ERA in 17 starts (the Yankees were 11 and 6 in his starts), allowing only 8 homeruns hit against him during the season. and pitched 6 innings or more in 15 of 17 starts. Wang did miss part of the 2005 season after the all star break with a shoulder inflammation problem, but did not require surgery and worked back to the team in early September. He became the first pitcher from Taiwan to reach and pitch in the post season. Was hailed as one of the savior of the 2005 Yankee season, Wang was sought after by several team in the off season but the Yankee made clear they were not going to part with him, and he was immedieatly inserted into the 3rd starter on the Yankee rotation at the start of the 06 season.

Is married to Chia-Ling Wu (12/7/03)...was signed by John Cox and Gordon Blakeley...attended the same middle school in Taiwan (Chien-Hsin Middle School) as current Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo...both have remained friends and train together in a preseason conditioning program in Phoenix, Arizona at Fischer Sports...played baseball at Taipei Ti Wu University in Taiwan...was a member of the 2004 Chinese-Taipei Olympic Team and a two-time Olympic All-Star...earned Most Valuable Player honors for Taiwan at the Asian Games.
