Hit 56 home runs in his college career including 24 in 1983 to lead the nation. Had a 21 game hitting streak for the Newark Orioles and batted .329 with 5 home runs his first year in professional baseball. His first and last professional hits were home runs. The first coming against the Niagara Falls White Sox at Sal Maglie Stadium in June 1983 and the last coming against the Baseball City Royals while playing for the Miami Miracle in the Florida State League. He has been a batting practice pitcher for the Florida Marlins from their inception in 1993 to the present and has earned two World Series rings (1997 and 2003).
