Trivia and Player Notes

Steele graduated from Central Michigan University in 2000 with a degree in Sports Management. Before playing at CMU, Steele also played a year each at St. Clair County Community College and at Grand Rapids Community College.

Steele had Tommy John surgery which caused him to miss the entire 2002 baseball season. After coming back, he was picked by the Seattle Mariners in the Minor League Rule V draft and spent the next 3 seasons in the Mariners system.

After his minor league career was over in 2005, Steele immediately joined the Michigan State University coaching staff as pitching coach.

To prepare for his new role at MSU, Steele served as an instructor at several colleges in Michigan from the time he played College ball up until 2005.
