 Trivia and Player Notes
Minoso had a stellar career between 1949-1964, accumulating nearly 2000 hits while batting just under .300. However, Minoso would turn into a novelty as he became the first player in history to play professional baseball in seven different decades.

Minoso's initial major league career spanned the 40s, 50s and 60s and after retiring at the age of 41, Minoso returned for 3 games in 1976 and 1 game in 1980 to tie Nick Altrock as the only player to play games in the majors over 5 decades.

Minoso extended his playing career by making quick appearances with the St. Paul Saints in 1993 and 2003, giving him seven decades.

In 1983, the Chicago White Sox retired Minoso's uniform number (#9).

Notes: Played in 7 All-Star games during his career (1951-1954, 1957, 1959-1960)....First black player in a Chicago White Sox uniform.
