 Trivia and Player Notes
Griffey was a highly touted rookie as a teenager and was dubbed "Junior" by the baseball world becuase of his potential and his apparent joy in playing the game. He always had a smile on his face and he had fun playing the game early in his career.

Made a guest voice appearance in an episode of "The Simpsons" called Homer at the Bat where Homer's boss Mr. Burns assembles a team of ringers to compete in a corporate baseball league to insure a championship. The 9 Major Leaguers are given jobs at Mr. Burns' Nuclear Plant, enabling them to qualify for the team. Each of the players endures a serious injury before the final game forcing the team's real employees to take over and setting the stage for Homer to be a hero where he is hit by a pitch to force in the winning run.
