Trivia and Player Notes

Garland throws a sinking fastball in the low 90s as his most effective pitch but a lack of control over his career has made him prone to surrendering the long ball. He has put together 5 mediocre seasons in Chicago after earning his way into the rotation in 2000 after a terrific season at charlotte.

Garland played baseball at John F. Kennedy Hill school in Granada Hills, California and he was an All-Star player of the year twice and he was a high school all-american for one of those seasons.

His cousin John Bushart played in the Angels organization after being drafted in 1993.
