 Trivia and Player Notes
Fox was a mid-round draft pick by the Reds as a third-baseman out of Tarleton State University in Texas. He converted to pitcher upon joining the Princeton of the Appalachian league where he struggled in his new role.

A good athlete who played both baseball and basketball at high school, Fox had some success in the minors as a starter, winning 12 games at class A in 1993 and losing 12 the year before. He was traded to the Braves in 1996 and joined their AAA franchise in Richmond, showing a good ability to strike batters out but he also showed a lack of command, walking more than 4 batters per 9 innings.

The Braves gave him a chance and he made his debut against the Mets on July 13, 1997, pitching 2 innings of scoreless relief in a game the Braves would eventually lose. He would go on to pitch 30 games with the Braves that year in middle relief, finishing with a respectable ERA of 3.29.

The braves capitalized on his success by dealing him to the Brewers where he would spend 5 seasons battling injuries with intermittent success. His best season came after not pitching during the 2000 season because of Tommy John surgery. Fox would pitch in 65 games with the Brewers, mostly as a middle reliever man. His ERA never went higher than 2.26 that year and he finished with an ERA of 1.89 with 80 strikeouts in 66 innings. Though he did walk some batters, he was very difficult to hit. It looked like he had finally arrived but then injury struck again and he pitched in only 6 games during the 2002.

Since then, Fox has tried to get his career back on track but he has become an injury-prone journeyman, looking for his 2001 form. Over his major league career, Fox has struck out more than 10.5 batters a game but he's also undergone Tommy John surgery twice.

The highlight of his career was in 2003 when he was a member of the Florida Marlins World Series championship team in which he pitched in 3 games, giving up 2 runs in 3 innings. It was his first and only appearance in the playoffs and he pitched 3 games in all levels of the playoffs, finishing the playoff season with an ERA of 3.97.

Notes: Member of the World Series Champion Florida Marlins in 2003.
