 Trivia and Player Notes
Ferran was the 1986 Texas League Pitcher of the Year while with the Shreveport Captains after accumulating a record of 16-1 with a 2.29 era and 146 strikeouts. He became only the second Texas League player to win the Texas League pitching triple crown. The other was Sid Fernandez.

He was placed on the 1987 San Francisco Giants 40-man roster and assigned to AAA Phoenix but experienced shoulder problems throughout the season.

1988 started off with shoulder surgery by Dr. Frank Jobe and Ferran missed the entire 198 season and the surgery did not succeed. The same surgery would help extend Orel Hershiser's career.

Ferran retired at the start of the 1989 season.
