Tanner's High School team won back to back state championships in 2005 and 2006 as well as his American Legion Baseball team Post 39 won the NC State Championship in 2005. In 2006, Tanner was named to the NC Prep Team, Won all conference honors, won All Area honors as well as serving as team captain and was award the SASI Sportmanship Award. Tanner is the son of the late Greg Biagini who played in the Montreal Expos Organization, the Seattle Mariners Organization, and in the Mexican League. He later managed in the Orioles and the Texas Rangers organization winning two AAA Championships. He was the hitting coach for the Baltimore Orioles in 92-94 under Johnny Oates. Tanner was drafted in the 48th round by the LA Dodgers out of high school but is attending VMI and playing baseball at this time.
