The MLB draft is the mechanism used to assign North American amateur players from college and high school to an MLB Organiation. The draft order is determined by the prior season's standings and sandwich picks between rounds are determined by free agent signings. Each team is granted a salary cap, depending on their draft positions, for the first 10 rounds to be assigned to signing bonuses.
