Uniform Numbers

I can't believe I have to explain what a uniform number is but you know that number on the back of a player's jersey and sometimes on the sleeve or on the front? Well, that's it. It is a distinct number per team per game. That means that in a given game, a team cannot have multiple players with the same number though I guess that during Spring Training when you have a thousand dozen players, that its possible to have dupes. But within a regular season or playoff game, no chance. Though most teams have names on the backs of their jerseys to help you memorize players and numbers, some teams still do not which forces you to learn the numbers. An important point is that a team can have multiple players where the same number in the same season. And teams with specifically retired numbers (and the #42 of course) are blocked from being worn.

I have tried to include as many uniform numbers as possible for all levels. MLB is pretty much complete going back to the 1930s while Minor League and College teams are a bit less complete. I always found it fun to see a player's uniform history. I don't know why. Maybe I need help.
